A short drive down any of the city's main thoroughfares will offer a view of progress, in the form of sheet rock, cranes, and the ubiquitous orange cones and barrels with which we're so enamored.
The campus is no different, as workers
are seemingly tearing down and building up everywhere in an effort to continue
MTSU's meteoric rise in prominence. With the opening of the extension of Alumni
Drive, MTSU Boulevard has been closed for construction, with a new roundabout
set to
replace the old four-way stop.
Construction continues on the Campus Recreation Center, as the addition of Health Services and other expansion will be completed in the fall. And as part of the campus master plan, each year different dormitories are targeted for renovation, with Miss Mary Hall being one of the current projects.
Baseball fans should be excited about
the ongoing remodeling of Reese Smith Field. Even though the bleachers are
gone for now, the completed, state-of-the-art stadium promises to be a source
of pride for MT Athletics
for years to come.
These are only a few of the projects
taking place on campus. It seems that every day chain-link fencing is erected
somewhere new. And while it's not always convenient or aesthetically pleasing,
the end result is sure to be
well worth it.
