I have to admit, I've had no shortage of opportunities during my time at MTSU. Thanks in part to a generous amount of scholarship money, I haven't had to seek any off-campus employment, and with the resulting free time, I've been able to immerse myself in campus life by becoming involved in a variety of activities. Still, a little extra pocket money can't hurt, and thankfully I've found an enjoyable, productive way to earn it.

As a student worker in the Media Relations office, I've been able to really engage in my tasks. Most of what I do occurs during MT sporting events, which is a natural fit for a dedicated Blue Raider fan. During a basketball game, for example, I call ESPN with score updates from courtside, hand out statistics to the media, and record quotes from the players and coaches at the postgame press conference.

The perks associated with my job are numerous. I receive an excellent catered pregame meal, a front-row seat for the action, and a behind-the-scenes look at Middle Tennessee athletics. Though things can get hectic at times, I wouldn't trade what I have for any other campus job. Most importantly, by working in the Media Relations office I receive valuable career experience. I plan on working in this field after I graduate, so to be able to get my foot in the door now is a privilege.

My coworkers are great, my work is fun, my stomach is never empty, and the office I work in is fifty feet from Monte Hale Arena. It really is a dream job.
