This past Saturday I attended the MTSU vs.
New Orleans men's basketball game with a handful
of friends. Tensions were high as the Blue Raiders
unleashed their lightening (no pun intended!) on
the Privateers. Unfortunately the Blue Raiders didn't
claim the victory, but their fight was certainly apparent
when the game was forced into overtime. The 82-75
score also displays the maximum effort the Blue
Raiders put into the game.
The first time I felt sports truly peak my interest,
I
noticed I felt what the crowd felt: the anxiety, the excitement,
and the disappointment that hit from time to time.
Saturday's game pulled me right into the crowd's
experience. It is the beauty of the camaraderie
sports fans feel with one another at an event, and
I'm proud to say I was a part of it.
Before MTSU, basketball was a sport I felt a notable
amount of apathy toward. College has undoubtedly
help shift my perspective on many things, and
fortunately for my sports-inclined classmates,
I have a newfound respect for the game.
