Blue
Raiders Play the Ryman
Built as a gospel tabernacle by Captain Thomas G. Ryman in 1892, the Ryman
Auditorium was the home of the Grand Ole Opry radio show from 1943-1974.
It is now considered one of the premier performance halls in the south. Musicians
ranging from Roy Acuff to James Brown and Patsy Cline to Sheryl Crow have
performed on the Ryman stage. We will walk in the footprints of musical legends
as we tour back stage of what is known as the Mother Church of Country Music.
Dinner
at Caney Fork Fish Camp
This unique dining spot, which houses a 3100 gallon stocked pond and waterfall,
pays homage to the old fishing camps along Tennessee's Caney Fork River. You
can bet that fried catfish is on the menu.
Grand
Ole Opry Show and Backstage Tour
What began as a simple radio broadcast in 1925 is today a live entertainment
phenomenon. Every year, hundreds of thousands of people make pilgrimages to
country's most famous stage. But not everyone gets to go behind the curtain
like you will! Thanks to Grand Ole Opry
General Manager and fellow Blue Raider Pete Fisher ('87), you'll see what
happens when country music legends and contemporary chart-toppers meet.
So
long, Farewell
The bus will return to Alumni House after the Opry. We'll say our goodbyes
and make plans to see each other again at Alumni Summer College 2009.
